PUBLIC WELCOME

  • 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Wagon train encampment at Plumb Grove, a historical farm house built in 1831, located at 12654 Broadfording Rd, Clear Spring, Maryland (the intersection of North Martin St. and Broadfording Rd.)

Saturday, May 15, 2010

  • 9 a.m. Wagon Train departs east along Rt. 40 and travels East towards Hagerstown, Maryland.
  • 10:30 a.m. Stop at Wilson’s Store
  • 11 a.m. Cross historic Bridge (weather permitting).
  • 11:45 a.m. Huyett’s Crossroad lunch stop
  • 2 p.m. Hagerstown City Park – arrive at north end of City Park at parking lot between Hager House & Museum.
  • 4 p.m. Arrive for overnight encampment, AG Center, 510 E. Wilson Blvd, Hagerstown, MD (near Four States Livestock Auction)

Sunday, May 16, 2010

  • 10 a.m. Wagon Train departs Ag Center traveling east on Wilson Blvd. then onto Alt. Rt. 40
  • 10:30 a.m. Ravenwood Lutheran Village, Kenly Avenue. Wagon Train travels through Funkstown to Alt. Rt. 40 to Boonsboro, MD.
  • 12:30 p.m. Auction Square Complex, Boonsboro, MD Wagon Train is stopping for lunch.
  • 1:15 p.m. Wagon Train departs.
  • 1:30 p.m. Shafer Memorial Park, Boonsboro, Wagon Train Ends. Depending upon weather wagon train will circle for 30 minutes before disassembling.

CLEAR SPRING, MARYLAND

At the intersection of N. Martin St. & Broadfording Rd. in Clear Spring, MD. 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Plumb Grove is a historical home built in 1831 and restored by the Clear Spring District Historical Association.

  • Wagon Train Encampment. Free and open to the public.
  • Food available for purchase, 5-8 p.m.
  • Bluegrass Band, under tent.

  • Harnessing and hitching, 6-9 a.m.
  • Wagon train departs at 9 a.m.

CLEAR SPRING

  • Pike Days Parade, 10 a.m.
  • Visit the FFA National Pike Day Celebration at Clear Spring High school for food and baked goods, yard/ craft sale, antique tractor show, Betsy Bingo, activities for children, and a pet dress-up contest, 7 a.m. – 1 p.m.

WILSON’S STORE AND BRIDGE

Located on Rt. 40 above Conococheague Creek. Great photo opportunity for the time period at both the store & bridge. (Bridge crossing will be weather permitting).

  • Wagon train stop 10:30 a.m.
  • Wilson Store, authentically restored country store,circa 1850
  • One-room school, restored circa 1855
  • Cross Wilson Stone Bridge, 11 a.m., weather permitting

  • Washington County Museum of Fine Arts open from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

  • Enjoy the historical town with lots of good food, antiques and don’t miss the newly restored Trolley Station, circa 1902.
  • Visit the Boonsborough Museum of History (across from the park, look for the building with the cannons on the porch).
  • Pony rides offered for children by D & D pony rides.
